6 Ways to Revive a Nearly Dead Houseplant

Is there a better way to liven up a room than with green leaves and colorful petals of a houseplant?

However, anyone who is experienced owning such plants knows that it is really depressing and annoying when the plant shrinks, turns brown, or slowly dies of a painful death.

You shouldn’t give up if this happens to you, but try these tricks and nurse your plant back to life!

1. REPOT YOUR PLANT

It can be of a huge difference to move your tired-looking fern or succulent into a bigger and fresher pot of soil. Simply get a container that’s upgraded in size: “Be sure to select a pot a couple of inches wider than the one you are replacing, By doing this, you will give your plant’s root more space to grow well and thrive.

2. FEED IT BETTER

Plants need healthy and nutrient rich food too. Therefore, you should replace your old soil with a mix of high quality. Your newly-potted plant will appreciate regular feedings following the frequency recommended on the plant food package. You should also try fertilizer – stick it with a slow-process variety that won’t feed the roots all at once.

3. GIVE IT SUN — SLOWLY

For most plants, sun is good, however, if you move it into a hot and bright sun when they don’t look quite good, it can cause serious problems. Only give [your plant] 100% indirect sun for a short time until it recovers.

4. DON’T OVERWATER

The most common mistake among gardeners is not being familiar with their plants’ dormant periods, so they keep watering them. You should research when this season happens with your plant so you can make sure you’re not accidentally drowning your favorite flower.

5. GET RID OF PESTS

If you notice your leaves of the stem look weak, there might be a bug problem. It is recommended to get rid of those unwanted visitors by wiping the leaves with a mild soapy water solution.

6. TRY A GREENHOUSE

There are plants that need humid environment, which we probably don’t want in our homes. Therefore, it is good to create an individual greenhouse for these plants, and place a small plastic bag on top. Keep it like this for four to five days to revive the environment needed.
